Merry X-mas and... I'm in Warhammer Visions!

Merry Christmas! Hope everyone is having a great day.

Because of my shitty personal life etc. my blogging and hobby time haven't been great lately.

But right when you need that extra boost to continue what you, BAAM you open latest issue (23) of Warhammer: Visions and there is one of your models in it. Thanks White Dwarf team, you got my hobby juices going again.

I know there's hundreds of models showcased each month, but I don't think I'm the only one dreaming of this since they first started painting miniature models. This is the second time I  have one of my models showcased in a GW publication, last time was in White Dwarf in 2013.

It's once again one of my Empire models, and this time my General on a Griffon. Not an favorite of mine, but there's at least some conversions and green stuffing done to it. Anyway, a really pleasant surprise to find, now I'm off to painting some more stuff again.

News: Tzeentch Gaunt Summoner pictures!

Next up after the Varanguard of the Everchosen there's finally some new Tzeentch stuff, the Gaunt Summoner. It looks really sweet and will of course find it's into my AoS Tzeentch army.

News: Duardin Fyreslayer Sprue leaked!

Just run across these two pictures showing what it looks like an Duardin Fyreslayer, most probably an character or Dragon/Daemonslayer variant with the option of an Icon/Standard. Looks really cool in my opinion, can't wait to see it assembled and painted.

Really interesting as well as this is the first release of some other race/faction than Stormcasts or Chaos for AoS. And Fyreslayers looks really cool in the artwork so far.

Got the pics via: Talk Wargaming

What do you think?

Miniature Monday: Lions of Sigmar Lord-Relictor

Got some more Stormcast Eternals for you today, the Lord-Relictor! This dude took a lot more time to paint than what I first had thought for sure. The icon he has took a lot of time, as well as all the scrolls. But I like how he turned out in the end, regretted a little that I did no conversions, I have seen many really cool on the web and twitter.

They are really cheap to buy separate on eBay though so I might do a new one sometime in the future. But before that I have a lot of other stuff to do, next up for the Stormcasts are two more Prosecutors.

Miniature Monday: Warriors of Nurgle

It's that time of the week again, Miniature Monday! Have much more stuff going on but struggling getting stuff finished. Been moving houses as well as my man cave but it's finally starting to get done so I can focus some more on painitng, and posting stuff on the blog!

Oh and I have been playing videogames as well, Fallout 4 is taking a LOT of my spare time lately. Anyways, here's first five of my rebased Nurgle army. I redid the bases from scratch on these, as I wanted more of a swamp theme. And I liked the result. Really looking forward painting some more Nurgle stuff soon, I have yet to start on my Maggot Lord, Morbidex. Glottkin and some Putrid Blight Kings... and much more stuff!

Miniature Monday: Stormcast Eternals Retributors

Been away awhile again, been much in my personal life and at work. I have been doing some painting though. And finally Iv'e finished some more of my Stormcast Eternals, please say welcome to the Retributors!

I really like these models, and I'm really happy with how these turned out as well. Next on my to do list for the Stormcasts are Lord Relictor and two more Prosecutors. After that, more Liberators a Lord-Castellant, gryph hound, Judicators and some Protectors.

Miniature Monday: Khorne Skullchrusher

All I do currently is about AoS, I'm building terrain, assemble models, paint models, rebasing and repainting.

For this model I did the last two, I first repainted him quite a lot. Some of you might have seen how my old Skullchrushers looked liked, if not you can find them here. I always liked how they looked before, but back when I painted them I wanted a unified looking force with models from all the Chaos gods. As my force was mainly Tzeentch I painted them blue.

As I said, I liked the look.... but well, Khorne in blue... it's just feels wrong...

Now in AoS I went with an totally other idea, separate all my Chaos models into smaller Chaos God specific armies... With different basing, different colors and so on. It's not as versatile when it comes to do games, but it's going to be more fun and varied when it comes to painting and basing each army instead.

Anyway, went with a more traditional red theme on one of my Skullchrushers to try it out. And well, I'm really happy with the result. I also redid the shield a little and it looks better now I think.

Sorry about the poorer picture quality this time around, was in a little bit of a hurry when I took the pictures. Comments are much welcome!

News: Horus Heresy: New pictures of the box contents

Nice and crisp pictures showing the plastic sprues for the Cataphracti Terminators and Contemptor Dreadnought for the upcoming Horus Heresy game from Games Workshop.

It's supposedly a standalone board game type, like Space Hulk, Execution Force etc. But I think GW will use these minis for more than that in the future. Anyway it's really nice with HH models in plastic.

I wasn't to thrilled by all the the 30k rumors to be frank, but when more and more pics is coming and the fact it's a stand alone game, makes me more interested.

Found the pics at Bell of lost Souls, but original source is Spikey Bits.

Update: More pictures via Spikey Bits!

Miniature Monday: Throgg the Troll King

I continue with my rebasing of my WoC army, four Chaos Trolls is already done, and here's their King as well... Throgg!

Not as good as he was in 8th I still think he is and good addition to any WoC army, especially if you have a lot of Chaos Trolls, Chaos Ogres etc. Anyway, I really like the model and he looks nice on a bigger round base, I put him on a 60mm base actually even if my Trolls are on 50 mm. He is just so big that a 60 mm just looked better in my opinion.

Miniature Monday: Daemon Prince of Tzeentch

Miniature Monday time, I finally finished repainting my Daemon Prince of Tzeentch. Not many more things to say, I really like how it turned out though. Hope you like it.

Age of Sigmar - Making themed armies - Tzeentch

One of the best things with Age of Sigmar is the fact that you have much more opportunities when it comes to doing a themed army. You could do this before as well, but with much more restrictions and often it became a really soft list. Although you can mix and match how you want with different Warscrolls, I still prefer to have some boundaries. First of all I prefer keeping to one of the four factions.

In each faction you can take what you want, but If you want an effective army you should look on the Keywords on each warscroll, and what synergies that can be made.

I often think about what different 'themes' you can make which is still fluffy, and also possibly effective in games.

The first that I come up with was what I could do with the Tzeentch part of my WoC army which I'm currently re-basing to rounds and ovals. I already have a lot painted, 20 Warriors with Hand Weapon and Shield, two Sorcerers, one Lord on a Demonic Mount (was my BSB before), Throggh and four Chaos Trolls, Mutalith Vortex Beast, a Daemon Prince, 10 Warhounds a Chariot and some more stuff not yet finished.

So what can you do with this? Tzeentch is the Changer of Ways, the Great Manipulator and most associated with sorcery and magic. So of course I want to do something with a lot of magic and something that 'changes stuff '.

Warriors of Chaos
In the Warscroll Compendium for WoC we have a lot of different Heroes, Infantry, Cavalry, Monsters and even a Warmachine.

When I think Tzeentch I think magic, mutated warriors, more shooting in the form of magical bolts, flames etc. And high re-rollable armor saves (thinking about the unkillable Lord on Disc, the BSB on a demonic mount for example) So having this in mind I search for stuff that fit into this mold.

Important Keywords
Slave to Darkness, Tzeentch

Heroes

Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord - If I want to go WoC heavy in the army this is a must have for an Tzeentch army. They can cast one more spell if you roll a double when casting, and they have the really nice and fun/fluffy Bolt of Change which causes D3 Mortal Wounds (always nice) and on a 4+ for each slain you they are turned into a Spawn. This is something I really like so will look for more similar rules to this.

Tzeentch Lord on Disc - Hard to kill for models without flying, his Command ability is interesting but might not be used at all sometimes.

Vilitch the Curseling - Love the model and I have still it still unpainted. Interesting character, his Vessel of Chaos ability is really nice, and his Glean Magic can potentially be really nice.

Galrauch - Not a fan of the model and don't own it myself. But looks quite fun to play actually.

Options - There are some other options that is not just Tzeentch, you can mark all the generic Characters with mark of Tzeentch, Daemon Princes for example becomes a Wizard with this mark, so it's also an nice option. If I want to focus on Slaves to Darkness units (all mortal units pretty much) a Battle Standard Bearer can be an nice option. I also like the look of an Sorcerer Lord on a Manticore and could also be a very fun option.

Troops

There is no Tzeentch specific units in the WoC list, but many of them could be marked Tzeentch. Here's what I think could work and look nice in an Tzeentch army.

Warriors of Chaos - Handweapon and Shield is the typical Tzeentch build, a unit of 15-20 is a lot of wounds (2 each) but is less afraid of Mortal Wounds because of their Chaos Runeshields. Buff their saves with magic and make them re-rollable with an  Warshrine and this unit can soak up a lot of damage.

Forsaken - Okay rules I guess, unpredictable as they should be. Fits in really nice with the Tzeentch theme with all the mutations and stuff.

Chosen - 3 attacks each, and a decent 4+ armor save, nice ability to make your other Slave to Darkness troops better if they kill enemies first. Similar to the Warriors but change defense for a offence instead. Finally there's a reason to take these, so I'm currently painting some of them up.

Chaos Knights - 3 Wounds each, nothing special making them Tzeentch. Nice unit and nice modeling opportunities.

Chaos Warshrine -  When marked Tzeentch it makes a Mortal unit reroll 1s on your armor save, but if that unit also has the Tzeentch Keyword you can re-roll all armor saves. And that is pretty nice.

Chaos Spawn - Thematicly works really nice with a Tzeentch force, I think I most often will have them in reserve if enemies (or your models) get's transformed into one.

Options: There's a lot of options in the WoC list. But not something that is particuarly powerful in a Tzeentch list I feel. But you can always throw in Chariots, Chaos Ogres, Trolls, Dragon Ogres etc.

Monsters

Two monster comes to mind which will work and look nice in an Tzeentch list.

Mutalith Vortex Beast - 12 Wounds 4+ save and he regenerates D3 wounds each Hero phase so he can be tricky to take down. He also do 4 normal attacks with rend -1 D3 Damage, and on full health a whopping 3D6 attacks 4+ 4+ 1 Damage.

The fun bit though is his ability to mess up a enemy unit within 15 in the Hero phase. There's is different effects depending on your roll, but if you get a 6 he does d6 mortal wounds, and each model slain becomes a Spawn. Will it happen often? Probably not, but when it does...muhaha.

Chimera - Nice all round monster, with a breath weapon that does d6 wounds on full health and a nice mix of attacks, with some high damage, high rend, some worse but more damage or attacks. Will work nice in most lists.

Options: Again a lot of options, but nothing that suits Tzeentch lists better or worse. Might try a Giant or a Shaggoth.

Warmachines

Not a lot of options here though, but we have one that might suit a shooty Tzeentch list or any Chaos list really.

Hellcannon - One of the better warmachines out there actually. Doing Mortal Wounds is key most often and if the cannon have at least 2 of it's crew near it can dish out two attacks with 48 inch range, hit on 3+ if it didn't move. 2+ on units with 20+ models in it. If it hits it's d6 mortal wounds from each attack. Really nice.

Miniature Monday: Daemon Prince of Tzeentch WIP

The only thing I post nowadays Miniature Monday! Well I will be better posting more stuff up here, currently moving and making a new hobby room so between that, having young kids and some painting there isn't much time left...

But for now, here's my Mini Monday for today!

My old Tzeentch Daemon Prince, now on a 60 mm round base. Still WIP as I can't help myself not to do some repainting when I at it changing bases. I have redone the skin, the cloth and and the sword so far. Still highlights left to do on the skin, and I also want to redo the black on the wings. Also some more highlights here and there and more work on the base and it's done. Will of course post up new better pictures when it's finished, but for now this will have to do. Happy wargaming and painting guys!

Miniature Monday: Mutalith Vortex Beast

Cheating a little here, this beast was finished for quite some time and I did nothing with the paintwork when I re-based this guy, I was happy with how he looked already. I did however put some extra effort into his base, as I got the idea that the magical vortex is tearing up the ground around him and magical energy is pouring out.

I might have overdone it but I quite like the effect, tell me what you think in the comments! I really like this model, it suits Tzeentch so well so he will be a nice centerpiece for my upcoming Tzeentch army. Now I just need to get some matching Chaos Spawns in case he summons some up in my games.

Miniature Monday: AoS Tzeentch Sorcerer Lord

Continuing working on my rebasing of my entire WoC army and here's the latest one. You might remember this one, I painted it quite some years ago. I liked how it looked, but it could look better and I got an idea.

The vortex on my Mualith Vortex Beast looked really good in my opinion, it was painting using one of WoC painting guides for the iPad from GW. So I went looked up what colors I used, and used them to repaint the flaming skull on this model.

And I liked the result! So much as I will use this color scheme for my Tzeentch army on flames, magical stuff and what not.

I did a fair bit of repainting on this model so now it is pretty much an totally new model. Still bit unsure on the grey/white robes, maybe should have gone with something darker there...

What do you guys think? Tell me in the comments.

Re-did the base as well, the guy is magnetized as well. Think I will add this effect on some other bases as well in the army to make them look more interesting.

Miniature Monday: Chaos Trolls rebased for AoS

Yeah I'm cheating a little here, not really new models, but new bases and I think they got an whole new and more dynamic look.

These models where a pain to rank up, especially with Throgg in the unit as well. So the new round bases makes this much easier (Throgg is almost done as well), and with the dynamic poses these models have I think the round (50 mm in this case) bases looks awesome. What do you think?

Did this as easy as I could. As Iv'e put a lot of work into bases before I wanted to keep that and just transfer them over to rounds. 40 mm would look to small so I went with 50 mm, cut of the edges and the cut away all the square excess. I then glued it on top of the new round base, used PVS, sand, some rocks and stuff to build up the rest around the old base. It takes some time, but this way I could keep the work Iv'e already done to the bases.

Age of Sigmar: Reinforcements and more

Not reinforcements in game terms just yet though. But I finally got my box of AoS from Wayland Games (it had been in the post office here for over a week without me knowing it :( ) Anyway, got some nice stuff in here so here we go.

My camera battery charger is still missing, so photos taken with my OnePlus One Phone will have to do.
So what do we got here, an Lord-Celestant on foot, and Lord-Castellant with his Gryphound. One box each of Paladins, Liberators and Judicators. The two AoS books (and I really like these), two new terrain pieces and an assortment of new round and oval bases.

So a lot of stuff, so far I have only checked everything out and I like everything, details are nice and crisp a lot of bits which is nice as we didn't have any with just the AoS starter box. Read through the books, not expecting much because of what many says about on the interwebz. But I really liked them, it's what I wanted really. More scenarios, more fluff and some nice pictures. Sure many pages are wasted on stuff we already seen, warscrolls, the rules etc. But I really liked to read them actually.

I want more stuff, like the Celestant-Prime, the Portals and some of the future releases for the Stormcast Eternals. But will wait with that order, for now I have plenty to do already.
